Close to Home but not Close Enough

February 18th

Less than 24 hours to go ... until we start our 24 hour journey home.  It is scary but the 24 hour journey home sounds wonderful.  Compared to
trying to get medical help in a foreign country for a little boy we are just getting to know - traveling sounds like a vacation.

The past few days have been an adventure for sure.  Most of yesterday was spent at the American Clinic trying to get help for Adam.  Yesterday
morning he was absolutely miserable.  He would not stop crying and had not eaten anything for 72 hours.  We were scared.

Fortunately, we found a wonderful Russian Doctor at the clinic, and he thinks Adam may have an ear infection.  Clearly something is making it very
painful for him to swallow.  We gave him some Motrin, and started him on Zithromax and we have seen a slight improvement.

He actually ate 1 jar of baby food today - that is one jar since Monday - not much for a little guy to live on.  The doctor reassured us that he can
live on juice until we get home, and for the most part that is what he is doing.  If it is his ears that are bothering him, it should be lots of fun to fly.
At this point, we just want to be closer to good medical care, and we can deal with a miserable flight.  We believe we will soon have this all behind,
and it will be wonderful to get home.

We apologize for the lack of updates and pictures, but it has been pretty stressful here.  Fortunately, everything else has gone very smoothly and
we have Adam's passport and Visa for the US.  As soon as we land in Philadelphia he will be a US citizen, and shortly after that we will be together as
a family of 4 for the first time. Yippee.

Thanks for journeying with us - it has been an exciting one.
A sample of all the formulas, cereals, and bottles
we tried, and the only juice he tolerates.
Trying hard to get something in him.
When we weren't force feeding him, he enjoyed a nice
massage.
