Happy Birthday Adam Overman
February 4th, 2005 We thought there was a chance we would get travel dates today (yes, we have thought that everyday for the past 4 weeks). We really wanted to believe today would be the magical day. Today was the last day we could get travel dates and still have a chance of celebrating Adam's 1st Birthday together as a family. Today is a very sad day, to know we will miss this milestone. We keep on hoping that we are only days away - how else could we wait for the child we held, and the child we love. A Year Ago… Only God knew what the future would hold On February 10th, 2004 he opened the door to an incredible truth Family is born of the heart and our hearts hold you tight We can’t celebrate this milestone together Our celebration must be done over a great distance We cherish the day you were born On this day began the blessing of loving you This love that started to grow 1 year ago Only hours separate our hugs; nothing separates our love Happy Birthday Adam Overman. .
February 8th, 2005 Finally, after 3 months of waiting, we got the call. We leave for Moscow on Friday, February 11th, just one day past Adam's 1st Birthday. What a great blessing. We will be in Moscow for about 1 week. We will spend the first few days visiting Adam at the Baby Hospital, and then we go to court. Assuming the judge approves of us, we will officially become Adam's parents. We either get to bring Adam back to the hotel the day of court or the day after. We spend a few more days in Moscow getting Adam's visa and completing other paperwork. Then we head home to be a family of 4. After much thought, we decided Andrew would have more fun staying with Blainey & Papa then spending endless hours in Moscow traffic. It will be hard to leave him again, but we think it would even harder on him to travel across the globe. So we will be together as a family for the first time in the Philadelphia airport. We can hardly wait. We hope to update the website as we complete this adventure. It is great knowing that we are sharing this with our friends and family even though we are so far away.
On February 12th, 2005 We made it back to Moscow, and got to hold Adam once again. See the next page for details and photos of our journey and time together. We couldn't be happier, and more eager to get him out of the orphanage and in decent clothes with a decent haircut.
